"For it is not the least of its terrors that this thing is rooted deep in all good, in soil barren of holy memories it cannot rest."
-- Bram Stoker, Dracula
"I'm gonna meet you on the astral plane
The astral plane for dark at night
The astral plane or I'll go insane"
-- Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers
"But then he tells me that even old flesh is erotic flesh. That disease is the love of two alien kinds of creatures for each other, that even dying is an act of eroticism."
-- David Cronenberg, They Came From Within
Public disclosures of alien abductions and astral sex are rare. The material involved is substantially charged, such that the overall subject is treated on a need-to-know basis (as in, you-need-to-know-what-the-Hell-o-Kitty's-happening-to-you). Previous to the terrifying, unmitigated assault (bordering on outright possession) of the titled character in the 1981 horror movie, The Entity, astral sex was alluded to chiefly in vampire flicks and cheap romance novels. During Medieval witchcraft trials, admissions of astral sex included the detailing of ingredients (henbane, datura) used in flying ointments (allegedly administered by broomstick up the pagan yoni, or the Grand Wazoo) to engage in consortium orgies with the Devil.
The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928)
It is estimated upwards of fifty thousand people were burned at the stake, in the auto-da-fés conducted from the 14th to the 18th centuries, throughout Europe. Contorted confessions from "toothless hags" (midwives / herbal healers / wise women) wracked in pain, reeked of horrid references to the famed, biblical, Incubus and Succubus, coincidentally the lurid bane and sexual obsession of the prudish Vatican Inquisitor (proving, torture is, and always has been, cruelty for cruelty / intimidation's sake, and can never be morally or legally justified, as an administrative policy or investigative method). Another patriarchal scourge in disguise (targeting selected "undesirables") to rid the people of folk magic and Goddess worship, and to instate the Church / State / male-dominated medical profession, as the sole authority; i.e. Supreme Salvation and material allocators (stealing the accused's land and wealth in the process).
INCUBUS, SUCUBUS : "Lewd demons or goblins which take on the illusory appearance of human beings and seek sexual intercourse with humans, usually while they are sleeping" (a.k.a. soul suckers snacking on synergies of sexual secretions). The real McCoys were shamanic intercessors, to wit : "The pagan Incubus was a special priest / priestess embodying a prophetic spirit, who would come in dreams or visions to those who incubated overnight in an earth womb / pit of a temple."1 It is estimated upwards of fifty thousand people were burned at the stake, in the auto-da-fés conducted from the 14th to the 18th centuries, throughout Europe. The presence of ethylene gases seeping through volcanic chambers, and rising from decomposing matter (such as cannabis), added to the mystique of the possessions channeled by the Pythia, serpent whisperers / Oracles of the Temple of Delphi. Pssssssssst..........
In my experience, astral possession by weird entities (familiar, sexual, sensual, angelic, demonic), is a Highly Imaginative and Creative (Performance) Art Form, which initially piqued my curiosity as a young girl (coinciding with the onset of puberty). This Strange Joy chose me, outrageously captivating my Spirit, and imprinting my astral passport with a lust for the Intangible. Sir Austin Osman Spare, the remarkable 19th century artist, writer, and philosopher, astral travelled sextensively, describing his sexperiences in "The Book of Pleasure (Self-Love) : The Psychology of Ecstasy". The occult writer, Dion Fortune's tome "The Demon Lover" is a mystical (s)exposé. William S. Burroughs describes astral sex as "one of the best pleasures ever accorded or otherwise obtained". What are you waiting for? The average earthling comes closest while jacking-off to sexual fantasies, with or without visual stimulus (porn). Everybody is familiar with acting upon sensations of longing......when separated from the object of one's desire, or when triggered by "beauty" operating in an astral medium (the silver screen). It's more common, romantic, and natural than we realize.
Astral sex, in my case, occurs synchronistically with full moons, as I relive orgiastic coven rituals from past (and future) lives. A bit draining on ectoplasmic levels....Hmmmmm, what are we? Space Vampires! As You Wish! Vamping seduction in night trysts over vast distances, triangulating star power to Seek Whomever We Want. Using "the Voice" astrally (a trick of the Bene Gesserit Priestesses in Dune), to awaken Desire, and to effect the spontaneous uplifting of the corporeal body. Wings-Asunder-Flying-As-One with the lover of your choice. Moon-Calling. The lust-of-your-life appearing, hovering mid-air over you (or from within!) to engage in lovemaking of the most discreet, pleasurable, gravity-less kinds. Multiple orgasms without hands! Feeling the presence / absence of the "weight' of one another's light body acutely, sensations of lush physical kisses upon your Spiritual Flesh, though wholly invisible, and definitely intangible (and rather hard to verify the next day, best not to mention it, if, and when, encountering the person. Verboten! a most-potent, time-honored taboo, for which a wink may suffice!).And that's with the people you know! Once you get the knack, strangers may show up for mutual carnal cannibalization, challenging you to guess their identity....(beware of late-night, NYC-based, television talk-show hosts). There's also the likelihood, your night caller, might, ahem, not actually be alive. Gross! If you've absentmindedly invoked a powerful enough Daimon, you may receive physical bites or bruises to show for it.

Fuseli, Henry, The Nightmare (1781)
How do you think these Succubi got their name? (Medieval Latin : Succubus : prostitute, and "cubare" : to lie upon", Incubus : "Incubo" : nightmare). It might be fortuitous to remain stumped as to who they really are. Thankfully, eerie, two-way channels can be severed by an Act of Will, if any old thing feels too beastly, or you're not in the mood.
On the plus side, astral sexuality induces some of the best orgasms ever, involving the slowest, wettest (tsunami-est), multiple afterglows of satisfying release; fetid, ripe, swooning, romance; swept hither and thither (overboard) in oceanic tides of rapturous Love fests! It's best when the parties involved are consensually participating. One of the currencies co-linked with this victimless crime is telepathy; finding oneself engaged in philosophical discussions upon, for instance, the ephemeral Nature of Love; sharing thought-felt exchanges and sweet talkin' beyond one's wickedest Imagination (or in exact concordance with?). There's no denying it's Real, but what, for the love of God, is going on?
The Greek myth of Psyche and Eros is an adult-primer on Astral Sex and Unconditional Love. Sensitive fey Psyche, the Butterfly Soul of Creation, is told repeatedly, warned explicitly, threatened even, to not look upon the face of her ravisher Eros, the God of Erotic Love, as they nightly consummate their voluptuous vows behind draped veils. Her challenge is to trust in, and to surrender to, the psychic (inner) experience (psychic : "beyond known physical processes" and "apparently sensitive to forces beyond the physical world". The fairytale of Beauty and the Beast foreshadows the same forsooth enigma. Why?

Herein lies Truth. The very Highest Love can never be possessed, must remain in its essence, freely given and freely exchanged, with no imprisoning, earthly demands. The pure Nature of Love is to freely exist, in total rhapsodic flight if it chooses, or else it may flee forever. There is no faster way to kill Love, than to try to own, control, or possess its Mystery. Eyes Wide Shut.2 Herein lies a great metaphor, wherein Psyche and Eros are seen as the two defining parts of our Higher Self : the Soul, and its animating principle, Love. If one flees the other, who or what is left? (Hint : Narcissus!).
To look upon Love as merely a physical sensation, without the engagement of one's Soul, is to tempt obsession, lust, and vanity to enter the vacuum. True Love begs to go deeper in our Psyche, to not give a damn if the Other is as beautiful as the son of Aphrodite (Love personified) or as ugly as the Proverbial Beast. Love's challenge to the Beast (in us all!) is to allow Beauty free rein, and to exist in a state of complete Surrender to the Unknown, with neither attachment, expectation, nor demand of its Continuation or Return (secretly knowing Beauty yearns to fly back into the arms of the Beast!). After many trials, Psyche attains Immortality (and her Beloved Eros) by overcoming attachment to romantic suffering.
Similarly, Astral Realm sexual exploration embraces the Divine Mystery as Love's Provident Domain. This celebrated communion, an invisible Act of Grace, encourages humans to anchor purely spiritual feeling to guide lovemaking, rooting the carnal unto the transcendent. Who knows what such unions can produce? (a hot topic in the 1486 Malleus Maleficarum) - offspring characterized as demons to non-believers, as angels to the wise? Was not the Savior of the World immaculately conceived by "Divine Intercession"? There's something positively astral about the Annunciation!
Greek and Roman myths abound of the sexual conquests of the Gods and Goddesses in discarnate form, imparting Immortality to desired mortals upon a whim (after a speedy abduction and/or a surprise insemination). The ensuing progeny were venerated, in the belief they were endowed with supernatural powers. "Queen of Abominations" (and astral sex unions), Lilith (Astaroth, "the female demon of lust" in Hebrew mythology) gave birth to thousands of starry (one-eyed) children (whom Jehovah slaughtered before taking Her as His Bride). History isn't so forgiving of the Creatrix, the independent woman with a penchant for chasing moon shadows, in wild moors, lost in ecstatic trance.
Naturally, I occasionally wonder, is it only Me? and my most fanciful (virginal) Imagination, fooling ourselves? am I crazy? entertaining wraithlike strangers? making Love to my Anima? succumbing to my lust for the Warrior King in The Lord of the Rings poster above the bed? I pray it's not psychic incest, or a vampirized Incubus, millennia-old, rotting with decay, whose putrid countenance would strike one dead to behold! I am content to call it Pure Fantasy, for whatever it is, is Rare and Exquisite Suchness.
Call upon me. You are Most Welcome.
Come again, my Love.
The Moon is my Shepherdess, I Shall Want You.

A LITTLE AFTERWORD :
Like anything else, practicing moderation with ritual intention is best (after the extremes have been fully explored). It is unwise to become addicted to Astral Sex escapades. Some....complications can arise in the depletion of essences, delusional, and withering away, categories. Remain lightly engaged! Partaking once in a blue moon, or for an experimental, calculated, series of full moons, are acceptable limits here. There are dangers lurking on the Other Side, once we Enter the Void3. The Tibetan Book of the Dead specifically warns against attaching to beings in the astral realm, appearing as luminous Spirits engaging in sexual congress (i.e. upon closer inspection - your potential new parents). Beware! You must have your wits about you, especially if you begin to suspect you are involved in the Holy Act of Dying. Don't be a snack for ghosts hungry for your necromantic flesh, either! In order to perfect an evolved transmigration, it does not behoove one to be overly attracted to overt sexual energy at this time. You are dead, remember?!!! Act accordingly! (Maintain Non-Duality! Opt for the Clear Light!).
